Get An dog For Life

Sure, it's a long list of questions. But a quick stroll through an dog shelter will help you understand why answering them before you adopt is so important.

Many of the shelter's homeless dogs are puppies and kittens, victims of irresponsible people who allowed their pets to breed. But there are at least as many dogs at the shelter who are more than a year old-dogs who were obtained by people who didn't think through the responsibilities of pet ownership before they got the dog.

Please, don't make the same mistake. Think before you adopt. Sharing your life with a companion dog can bring incredible rewards, but only if you're willing to make the necessary commitments of time, money, responsibility, and love-for the life of the pet.

If you're ready to adopt a companion for life, please click the links above at the top of the page to see a sample of our many wonderful dogs available for adoption at the Rural Dog Rescue.

If someone tugs at your heart and you would like to meet him or her, please fill out an Adoption Application.

OUR PROCESS

1. Apply

We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

2. Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

3. Home Visit

Once your application review is complete, a Rural Dog Rescue volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit to meet in person and discuss all-things pet. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the dog that the adopter may not have considered. All household members must be present during the home visit. This includes all pets.

4. Finding Your Pet

Once approved to adopt, the search for your dog begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing dogs in our care that you are specifically interested in.
