Hi there! I’m Murphy! 

I’m a happy, gentle boy who loves playing with toys, sleeping, watching out the window, and being with my family! 

I won’t lie, life hasn’t been easy for me.  I was abandoned and lived on the streets of D.C. for a while.  If you’ve seen the rats we’ve got in this city, you’ll know that wasn’t exactly a picnic.  No one really knows what my life was like before my foster family found me, but I can tell you it was sad and scary to be all alone, and I’m so grateful that my foster family found me. Now, I’m moving past the hard days, and ready to live life to the fullest!

For everything I’ve been through, I’m an amazingly resilient guy! My foster family says I’m very sweet, smart, and social.  I currently live with my two doggy foster siblings, and I love being part of a pack! We play together all day long, and have the most fun ever! 

I’m still learning to trust humans, so I can be a little nervous, especially around new people and at the vet.  Still, I know who my people are, and once we’re friends, I promise to greet you with the excitement of a thousand pups every time you come through the door!

As attached as I am to my people, I still do well in my crate, and am gaining confidence that when people leave, they’ll come back.  Its all part of learning how to be a dog that lives in a house! For having spent some time living on the street, I’m a really well-mannered boy, and learning more everyday.  I love snacks, and I’m a super intelligent, trainable dog.  I already know how to sit, and I’m excited to learn more!
