Hi I'm Martie! I was rescued from a severe neglect/abuse situation, but with patience, love, and a schedule, I’ve really opened up to my foster family! I’m a goofy dog who loves to play with my foster siblings and cuddle my humans.
Let me tell you about some of the things that really get my tail wagging. Zooming around in a fenced yard? Oh yeah, count me in! I love the feeling of freedom as I dash around. And when I'm not zooming, you can bet I'll be busy chewing on my toys. I've got quite the collection, and I love nothing more than carrying them from room to room, stashing them in couch cushions like buried treasure. And let's not forget about treats – I'm a sucker for a tasty snack! But you know what I love even more? Snuggling up with my favorite humans. Once I warm up to you, I'll be the cuddliest couch companion you could ask for.
Now, let's talk training. I’m nice and quiet in my crate and my foster mom has me nap in there a couple of times a day — and I also sleep quietly there at night! I’m still working on my house training, but I’m a smart boy who welcomes a routine.
When it comes to my energy level, I'd say it's moderate. My legs might be little, but my foster parents took me on a 5-mile hike and I did great — I could even do rock scrambles with no problem! I love walks around the neighborhood and romps at the dog park with dogs my size or a little larger. I'm a playful goofball once I warm up to you.
As for my ideal home, I'm looking for someone who can set boundaries while still showering me with love. I’m working on not getting too excited when I see other dogs on the leash. And while I get along great with small to medium-sized dogs and even cats, I need help building confidence around bigger dogs. So, if you're looking for a sweet, goofy companion who's just waiting to bloom with the right guidance, I might just be the pup for you!

My ideal home: Martie is such a sweet boy, who is so cuddly and loving. He wants nothing more than to go on walks and play with his toys and hang out with his beagle foster siblings. Since he’s still in the puppy-young dog phase, he needs an owner who is patient, and will enforce a routine to help him build his confidence!
