Hi, I’m Mabel!
My foster family describes me as a sweet and sensitive dog who wants to please her people more than anything else!
If you’re someone who likes a routine and training, I think we’d get along great! I thrive best with consistent routines, clear boundaries, and structure. I am fully crate trained, potty trained, and know lots of basic commands already, including ‘sit’, ‘off’, ‘heel’, ‘leave-it’, and ‘place.’ I walk well on leash but occasionally may want to try to chase a squirrel or other critter if they catch my attention.
At home, I am well behaved and bond strongly to my people. I prefer a quiet home that doesn't have lots of visitors. I can startle easily and may feel like I need to protect my people and my space, so I would prefer a home with only one or two adults and slow introductions whenever new people come into my home. My crate is very helpful to me as a safe place to decompress and relax, so I like having a few hours of crate time every day so that I can be my best self! I do well with other dogs at daycare and dog parks, but I prefer to be the only pet in the home so that I can have my space to relax at the end of the day.
Some of my favorite things to do are to take long walks, get all the sniffs in, and keep my humans company around the house. I also adore snacks in any shape or form. If there is a treat in the vicinity, I’ll sniff it out! I also really like puzzle toys like kongs, and my special favorite snack is blueberries!
